J.B. Reynolds Tobacco Company in favor of Rev. Emmon Smith, an injured smoker represented by J.B. and his team. It was the largest single verdict in the history of Jackson County, Florida. The Florida Supreme Court, in the case of Engle v. Liggett, upheld a jury’s findings that for years the tobacco companies fraudulent concealed the dangers of smoking, they conspired to manipulate the level of nicotine to make smoking even more addicting and that cigarettes cause at least 12 types of illness, including lung cancer, and certain medical conditions that lead to death.
